Coachella 2009

Well, just like that Coachella 2009 has come and gone. To me this years line-up was not as impressive as the previous years, but there were still some incredible performances and memories.

Here are my awards for Coachella 2009:

Biggest Surprise: Paul McCartney
I wasn't expecting much, Sir Paul's performance was one of the best of the weekend.

Best Moment(s):
The Ting Tings singing "That's not my name" and The Cure singing "Just like Heaven"

Best Crowd Energy:
Girl Talk Set

Biggest Regret:
We left before The Cure finished and missed some classics as well as a classic moment. They pulled the plug because the show went past curfew, but The Cure kept on playing and the crowd sang along.

Best Sunset Show:
Yeah Yeah Yeah's singing "Maps"

Honorable Mention: TV on the Radio, Joss Stone, The Aggrolites, Chemical Brothers

Best Food: The veggie wrap with tofu was fricken good. But the winner goes to the beef and cheese chimichanga with guac.

Craziest Concert Moment:
The couple having sex in the beer garden 20 feet away from us.

Still trying recollect all that happened, but looking forward to next year.

Coachella 2008 - Nice

Well another year, another Coachella. This years line-up was more of a mystery to me. Most of the bands were new to me and it was exciting to discover something new.

I don't know if I discovered anything new, but what I did discover was an appreciation for the established. Kraftwerk, Portishead, Fatboy Slim, and Prince, were all spectacular. They really showed why they have been around for so long. The Portishead and Kraftwerk sets were incredible.

Of course Coachella is all about the main stages, but the Do Lab was goin off all weekend. If high energy is what you want, then Do Lab is where you need to be. With DJ's spinning all kinds of dance music, the crowd was euphoric.

The weather was relatively cool this year, especially Sunday, with the skies being overcast. The crowds also seemed small compared to the previous years. With the back pains subsiding, the sore feet feeling better, I'm looking forward to next year already.
